Food scarcity is a major problem in Malawi. The stunting rate for children under age five is 42% and 10.3% of GDP is lost annually to child undernutrition. 23% of all child mortality cases are associated with undernutrition. We are training villagers on sustainable agriculture through our Permaculture program.
Monthly trainings educate villagers on natural fertilizer, soil fertility, water harvesting, community farming and home gardens. With adequate nutrition, school attendance increases, malnutrition and mortality decreases and stunting declines.
